Carter to retire as Air NZ chairman

Tony Carter, chairman of Air New Zealand (Air NZ), plans to retire in September 2019.

Carter has held the role of chairman since 2013 after joining the board in 2010.

Carter will be replaced by Therese Walsh, who has served as a director at Air NZ for the last two years.

Walsh’s extensive aviation management career includes stints as chief operating officer for the 2011 Rugby World Cup and head of New Zealand for the 2015 Cricket World Cup.

Prior to these posts, Walsh served as chief financial officer (CFO) at NZ Rugby and as an auditor at KPMG.
