EasyJet pulls out of Alitalia talks

UK-based low-cost carrier EasyJet announced on 18 March a decision to withdraw from negotiations with Italian rail operator Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane and Delta Air Lines about forming a consortium to explore options for the future operation of Alitalia.

The Italian government is conducting a sales process for Alitalia, which was placed into special administration in 2017.

Had a deal been reached, EasyJet and Delta would owned about 40% of Alitalia.

For its part, Delta remains interested in working with Alitalia and talks are on-going.
